Somerset New To Practice General Practice Fellowship Programme for Newly Qualified GPs: Are you or do you know a GP that has qualified since October 2020 and is working in Somerset? If so, this funded fellowship programme may be of interest. It is a financially incentivised 2 year programme designed to provide personalised support to newly qualified GPs to help gain confidence and to develop enjoyable, fulfilling and sustainable careers in general practice. NHSE hope that 100% of newly qualified GPs take up this offer. Our next cohort will start in September 2021. See programme here Any questions or to apply, please contact Dr Catherine Ievers firstname.lastname@example.org
Significant Event Analysis for Locums, 15 July - We know that discussing SEAs with colleagues can be challenging when working as a locum, and so we hope this session can help. It has been arranged as a short lunch time event so that even if you are working that day, you may still be able to join. (to book a place please follow links in below calendered events section)

This is a 2 year fellowship linked to the above GP programme to support nurses and also provide a comprehensive education programme to address skills and knowledge required specifically when working in this field. Our next cohort starts on the 1st September. Applications are now welcome. More information can be found here. Trust Trainee Nurse Associates (TNAs)
Outstanding Trust TNA Placement Claims for 2020- deadline 31st July 2021: Practices were able to claim a one-off payment from the Somerset Training Hub (STH) to offer 2 day and 4 day placements to Trust Trainee Nursing Associates (TNAs) in 2018/19 and 2019/20. we are aware that some practices are yet to submit a claim.
If you offered TNA placements during the period 01/04/18 - 31/12/2020 and have NOT previously submitted a claim please complete the updated claim form in the link below. We are always seeking more practices and PCNs to offer placements for both pre-registration student nurses and TNAs, and aware that the placement tariff is one factor in the decision made by practices to offer placements. Although there is a national tariff for nurses, as yet there is no national placement tariff for TNA students, however we are pushing hard for this. Therefore, Somerset Training Hub intend to use any unclaimed monies to support further placements this year, please note there is no guarantee of future funding. The details of the previous scheme can be found here and revised claim form here.
If any practices are willing to host TNAs and Student Nurses the next cohort is September 2021 , the closing date for this has now been extended to the 11 July 2021 full details here. please contact Krissie Bromley as soon as possible via firstname.lastname@example.org
Message from Julia Bloomfield, Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Specialist, Somerset CCG - 'We have been made aware of an increase in acute respiratory infections in the Somerset locality and we thought it would be helpfully if we summarised the IP&C guidance, particularly around RSV for your information and guidance in primary care. I hope you find it useful for education purposes within your role as IP&C lead, please see the document here which can be cascaded to your staff in general practice. I will be hosting an IP&C meeting on the 7th July and will be talking about the IP&C precautions to minimise the transmission of acute respiratory infections in primary care.' To book a place please follow the link in below education section.
