What is Somerset Training Hub?

Formed in 2019 as part of Primary Care Networks (PCNs). We believe that the workforce is the main asset of the NHS in Somerset; workforce education/training is key to improving the quality of patient care and staff well-being. You can read more about the work of the Training Hub here.

Who funds Somerset Training Hub?

Funding is predominantly from Health Education England (HEE), NHS England and Improvement (NHSE/I) and the local system. The Training Hub works according to national, regional and local priorities to support local primary care workforce development.

Who does Somerset Training Hub work with?

We are closely aligned to Somerset Local Medical Committee and SGPET, with some of our team working across all 3. To help understand and deliver the priorities for the Somerset’s primary care workforce, organisations we work with include:

What can I expect from Somerset Training Hub?

Support for training

· We aim to:

Most of our training is delivered through SGPET. We want training to be responsive and proactive to needs on the ground so we are always ready about to hear from training needs which arise. We will then explore whether we can match this with educational events.

Workforce recruitment

We work closely with the ICS to identify the main areas of workforce needs across the county, and how the emerging workforce can be trained

Workforce development

· Career development opportunities are key to retaining and energising the workforce. We often act as a signpost for people to help realise career possibilities.
