NHS England, Screening and Immunisation Team funding has been made available to fund additional immunisation training. The following training event is therefore free of charge to all practices and relate to the recent immunisation training survey that practices were recently asked to complete.

Day 1

· Discuss history of vaccination

· Complete immunisation schedule worksheet

· Discuss how vaccines work

· Identify vaccines by generic name

· Take part in group work to identify signs and symptoms and long term effects of vaccine preventable disease

·  Vaccination of children with uncertain/incomplete vaccination status

· Identify types of vaccines and vaccine components

· Legal and policy documents associated with immunisation

Day 2

· Consolidation of day 1 information with quiz and worksheets

· Discuss vaccine administration

· Vaccine associated adverse events

· Identify signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis

· The cold chain

· Record keeping

· Discuss PGD’s/PSD’s

· Discuss consent issues

· Communicating risk to parents

· Managing an immunisation clinic

· Complete immunisation quiz
