For Nurses requiring an update, not relevant for Nurses using as a new skill.
Refresher on:
- understanding of basic anatomy and physiology of the ear
- understanding of the prevention of ear problems, considering the patient holistically
- foundation of knowledge on which to base practical aural toilet, wax instrumentation and ear irrigation according to their own level of practice competence
- understanding of decontamination in relation to ear care
- understanding of documentation in relation to ear care
- the ability to undertake ear care within the boundaries and limits of their professional competence, responsibility and accountability
