SGPET Membership 2020-2021

Good afternoon,
Membership of the Somerset GP Education Trust (SGPET) is due for renewal; it is an annual membership, 1st April 2020– 31 March 2021. The cost for annual membership is £150.00 per GP/Nurse and we write inviting you to join or to continue your membership. If you are now with a Practice it may be that they will action.
An application form for individual GP/Nurse membership is attached, if you would like to join please complete and return this. Any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
By joining you will be able to enjoy:
- A series of clinical study days and half study days throughout the year, SGPET has already run sessions on ENT/Ophthalmology/Haematology/Dermatology and will be holding a Paediatrics Study Day, Moving Matters (Hip, Knee, Rhematology, Neurology Study Day, Diabetes update and Respiratory update a complete list of sessions are visible via the SGPET website. Local monthly evening GP Discussion Groups, new GPs, Sessional and locum GPs.
- Local monthly evening GP Discussion Groups across Somerset.
- Resuscitation updates.
- Monthly evening meetings with local Consultants at venues across the county.
- Week long GP Refresher Courses. These are now being held in both Yeovil and Taunton. The Yeovil GP Update is being held at Yeovil Hospital 8-11 June 2020 and the long running successful Taunton Fresh Looks course is running 23-26 November 2020.
- Specific small groups for new GPs and locum GPs, PCPs (paramedics in practice).
- SGPET are continuing to expand the sessions for Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and HCA’s, including Childhood Immunisation training & updates, Ear Care, Podiatry, Women’s Health, Infection Control, Travel Health, and again in 2020 a Respiratory Study Day specifically for Nurses and a full day Update for Independent Non-Medical Prescribers.

Non-members are charged to attend events. For evening sessions the 2020/21 rate is £15 per hour. Full and half study days are charged at a specific rate for the particular event. Practice Nurse/HCA half day sessions are charged at £45 for half day training events and £110 for full day sessions.
SGPET is one of a number of similar GP Education Trusts in the Severn area and our members will continue to have certain reciprocal arrangements with the GP Education Trusts in Bristol, Gloucester, Swindon and Bath. Some events will incur costs.
Following receiving funding from Health Education England (HEE), The Training Hub also funds certain events, which are also organised by SGPET.
SGPET aims to be an important part of general practice life in Somerset. The LMC and Education Team are working hard to ensure this and your support and membership are important.
